Hello once again, yes I am indeed still alive!  Don't stop sending the nonexistent checks in the mail!  Been a bit busy, so I haven't updated for a while.  I went to NYC Comic Con and had a blast last month, and yes, I will be uploading pictures after I get through fiddling with some things on them.  I got so wrapped up at work with preparing for the holiday season and then fixing everything that got fouled up while I was on vacation that I forgot to update Tea-Time and Tension a second time last month.  Oh noes!  ...  I'll do three this month, don't worry, all you two readers out there.  :P  Life with Pricks is still infrequently updated, but I'll most likely be uploading a few holiday recipes there this month and next for the holiday seasons.  FARAD is going well, I revamped the ability creation system (though it needs a better graphical representation later) and am working on some of The Atlas of Avende stuff, as well as other details such as refining the item crafting system a little further thanks to some feedback during playtesting, adding more to the lore, and adding THREE new playable species: The Gargoyles (stronger than the Draconis Dragon-Kin but only able to glide instead of fly, very durable, and generally not that intelligent), The Gnomes (smaller than Gitwerg or Goblins, but very skillful diggers and builders, as well as being attuned to nature more), and The Reynix (a trickster humanoid fox species with bonuses to magic or psionic abilities primarily).  At this present moment the core system mechanics are all in place (though many are being refined), though not all uploaded to the blog.  Posts will continue until it is ready for Kickstarter at a pace of one per week, but even that is only a fraction of what the finished result will be.  If you want to help contribute in any way to Cracked Sky Game's work on the project, or any other project, feel free to drop me a line!  We need as many individuals as are interested as possible to make FARAD and other projects as incredible as we intend and yes, we do plan to share monetary gains proportional to assistance given.

If you didn't know already, my 3 blogs are are as follows:

m-r-maloney.blogspot.com  <-- Tea-Time and Tension, my general writing blog, where  I discuss tropes, upload some samples of my work, discuss various writing professions and the market, and talk about such things as inspirations and the writing process.  The most recent post is "Tropes: The MiniBoss", in which I talk about an obvious subject which is very useful in fiction, especially in 'The Hero's Journey' sort of works...

lifewithpricks.blogspot.com  <-- Life with Pricks, where I write about my life, both dealing with my diabetes and other concerns.  This is the one Ignorance and Insanity is merging into.  The most recent post is "Sugars, Substitutes and Baking", which deals with some of the concerns for those wanting to make 'diabetic' or 'low-carb' friendly baked goods, and the potential downsides of various sugar substitutes beyond just taste.

faradsystem.blogspot.com/  <-- The FARAD System dev blog, where I upload my progress on the RPG System Cracked Sky Studios and I am working on.  The most recent post is about how the ability creation system works presently.  Give it a read, but you might want to start at the beginning to get a feel for the scope of the project.  In case you do read it and are interested, yes, I am the only person currently working on it regularly (with some occasional input from friends playtesting it) and yes, I would love to have more people on the project if you'd like to offer aid in discussion, writing (mostly more flora, fauna, various items, various abilities, or proposals for new mechanics) for the system itself, writing stories built around the system, illustrative concepts, and more!

Aside from that, expect more Bloodstone Manor scripts to keep popping up in my galleries, more favorites of pieces of those and other story characters that I've requested or commissioned of others, and perhaps other works.  All of them, and my blog posts, I would love to have any comments or critiques on, either on the pieces themselves or via notes.

As some may know, I had entered the :iconwe-write-to-escape: "I Am..." contest a while back, and though I didn't win anything, I did offer some prizes to the winners, and did have a lot of fun regardless.  That said...  Winners!  Your names and prize levels are listed here!

MisDmeanor with Introversion

Introversion..I am..
Introverted
nothing absurd, or obscure,
silent and distant sure,
but never a trace in the blur..
Thriving in depths of the mind
...unconfined...
Energized by the comfort
that only silence finds..
Not "shy" or antisocial,
lonesome or woeful..
In tune with my emotions,
I don't lack sociality,
nor live in depravity..
Devotion that never deviates,
an unquestioning Zen state,
that alone I satiate..
Recharging in my quiet place,
to gain strength for the next
...Face to Face...
Truly, there are not words
for just how much that takes..
Some call me strange,
still I pick my battles,
the way some pick their stage..
Life is a journey, not a game
and at the end of the day
we all get there in our own way
...So please...
Don't mistake my absent nature,
for pain, or disdain
...I'm not insane...
Introversion is simply who I am

Excellent job!  There's a lot of great imagery and subtly shifting pace here that really sets the mood, as well as choice use of hard and soft rhymes without sacrificing the flow.  It doesn't become too tied up in one rhyme scheme or another partway and failing to follow through, but instead gives hints, teases, soft whispers of wispy structure without detracting from the emotion.  In addition to the prizes from everyone else, from me you get:  A llama, journal feature, one critique and a short request of their choosing (set within my RPG System (The FARAD System) to be included on the system dev blog, my dA page, and eventually in the core book set and potential computer game if that ends up happening later down the road).  Llama and Journal Feature are sent!  Contact me to claim your other prizes!

Superb job!  You capture the spirit of the contest wonderfully, sharing your 'adorkable' side (as some might call it) and all those nuances which make one person unique and special.  It flows well and hints at more than what is presented.  From me you get a llama, journal feature and one critique of your choosing.  Llama and Journal Feature are sent!  Contact me to claim your critique!

Milk-and-Pie with Endless Tales

Wonderful job!  A good mix of metaphors and details that allude to more than simple symbolic cliché, the poet truly works beyond labels to share a sample of who they are.  Another wonderful piece by the same author is here: Don't Fall In Love With A Writer.  Read it and you'll see why it got a Daily Deviation!  From me you get a llama, journal feature and one critique of your choosing.  Llama and Journal Feature are sent!  Contact me to claim your critique!

xXI-Feel-InfiniteXx with Cognito ergo sum

Great job!  This superb piece ties to the theme greatly, with the title "Cognito ergo sum", Latin for "I think, therefor I am", really coming across strongly as the poet weaves various thoughts together in a simple but elegant structure I've rarely seen utilized effectively in dA.  From me you get a llama, journal feature, both of which are sent!

kmills95 with i am.

i am.i am a fragile frame,
shards of a being pieced together
by countless cups of coffee and innumerable secrets.
i am a tragedy,
a disaster in the making.
a beauty, a writer, musician,
an actress.
i am an empath,
a broken soul behind a mask:
a laugh or a smile,
bracelets, long sleeves,
cigarettes and eyeliner.
i am broken,
stitched together by scars and flaws.
sharpie drawings and words thrust onto a page.
bleeding just to feel alive,
tearing apart at the seams.
i am alive,
tortured, screaming, real and raw.
a self-destructive teenager
searching for the light.
i am a ghost,
haunting my own life.
a lost soul
wandering throughout the halls,
invisible, unheard, and alone.
i am a lover,
a fighter, a dreamer.
a soldier in the fight against myself.
a monster and a freak.
i am a fragile frame,
shards of a being pieced together
by countless cups of coffee and innumerable secrets.

Good job!  This piece really speaks to the frailty of the poet and of human life in general through metaphors and structure that echos throughout the piece, and throughout the reader's mind.  From me you get a llama, journal feature, both of which are sent!

First Taste Double-Theme Art Contest by Naesse-19
First Taste Double-Theme Art Contest!!

I've joined the First Taste group and it looks like fun!  Also, it is running a contest currently!  Details on the contest are linked above!

I'm also joining the Secret Santa 2014 initiative!  Check out the group for more details!
:iconsecret-santa-2014:

Additionally, for those that didn't read my last journal and still didn't yet know: I got a promotion at the end of August, a raise from that, my yearly raise, and now an additional raise unique to our particular store due to how well our store is specifically doing and incentive for me and others in several brackets to stay at our store in particular.  Yay!  Between the three raises (even if I didn't get a yearly raise next year as well, no overtime, and got none of the potential quarterly bonuses) I expect to be able to get a home mortgage in about a year and a half to two years without having to trim back on my 401k or other savings plans, if nothing untoward occurs.  Fingers crossed, but I'm feeling good about the future in general.

Well, that's all my news for now, so until later, catch you all on the flipside!

Hello once again!  I've been updating to my blogs, though there have been a few changes.  The Dead Heat Chronicles is no more.  Tea-Time and Tension has switched to updating at least twice a month, though sometimes more often.  Life with Pricks has changed to infrequent updates as it is mostly for venting, health and diabetes related posts.  My last a1c test was 5.5!  Yay!  Last time six months ago it was 8.8, and this time was the lowest I've had since finding out I was diabetic.  So, all good there!  Lost 13 pounds since six months ago too, so that's good.  Myths and Legends is also no more...  As Myths and Legends.  It has now changed to The FARAD System, with its final name.  FARAD stands for Fully Adaptable Roleplay Adventure Design, which is what the system aims to be.  If you want to play as a hobo wizard underneath a bridge, a time-travelling madman, a noble, a pauper, an inventor, any sort of character in any situation, then FARAD is for you!  At this present moment the core system mechanics are all in place, though not all uploaded to the blog.  Posts will continue until it is ready for Kickstarter at a pace of one per week, but even that is only a fraction of what the finished result will be.  If you want to help contribute in any way to Cracked Sky Game's work on the project, or any other project, feel free to drop me a line!  We need as many individuals as are interested as possible to make FARAD and other projects as incredible as we intend and yes, we do plan to share monetary gains proportional to assistance given.

m-r-maloney.blogspot.com  <-- Tea-Time and Tension, my general writing blog, where  I discuss tropes, upload some samples of my work, discuss various writing professions and the market, and talk about such things as inspirations and the writing process.  The most recent post is "Collective Identity", in which I talk about an obvious subject which is uncommon in most fiction...

lifewithpricks.blogspot.com  <-- Life with Pricks, where I write about my life, both dealing with my diabetes and other concerns.  This is the one Ignorance and Insanity is merging into.  The most recent post is "A Treatise to Supervisors and Employers Regarding Planning and Performance", which is a bit of venting as well as phrasing to a hypothetical employer about workplace issues they or their management staff have caused.  A couple weeks old, so the issues were mitigated already, but for those that didn't read it before and want a chuckle, give it a read.

faradsystem.blogspot.com/  <-- The FARAD System dev blog, where I upload my progress on the RPG System Cracked Sky Studios and I am working on.  The most recent post is about four rare iconic items of great benefit to those that find them, though also potentially dangerous to them as well as their foes.

As some already know, I'm a contributor in :iconuniverseoimagination: and uploaded three pieces related to it thus far!  Give them a look in my gallery or there, as well as some from other contributors.  I'm also in a poetry exchange with :iconetfonehome1: and am waiting on his latest piece on before sending out my reply!  I've been recently made a co-founder of :iconwords-are-our-sword: which is an excellent group for writers without the upload buffer that many other groups seem to have.  Give it a look and if you're a writer, why haven't you joined yet?  Additionally, I know I don't have a lot of watchers compared to many others on dA, but I am planning on starting up a few groups here on dA soon, so be on the lookout!

Speaking of the future!  Finally!  New York City Comic Con 2014!  Haven't gone to NYC or any con since '08, and heading back with my parents.  They'll be there for 1 day at the convention, but I'll be there for all 4 days, and will be sure to take a lot of pictures and perhaps video and notes.  Who knows?  I'll also be putting around NYC in general for a bit, so expect some stuff from the area as well.

Well, that's all my news for now, so until later, catch you all on the flipside!

Hello once again!  I've been updating to my five and after consideration will be merging Ignorance and Insanity over into my Life with Pricks blog.  The reason for this is the Ignorance and Insanity posts are ending up more and more just miniscule updates that no one is reading, and some still fall under people being Pricks, so they sort of fall under the new blog's name wordplay.  The focus will be staying on dealing with diabetes, but sometimes other subject might crop up as it is about my life in general as well.

If you didn't know already, my 4 other blogs are are as follows:

m-r-maloney.blogspot.com  <-- Tea-Time and Tension, my general writing blog, where  I discuss tropes, upload some samples of my work, discuss various writing professions and the market, and talk about such things as inspirations and the writing process.  The most recent post is "Plot Twists", in which I talk about an obvious subject which many authors deal with poorly or not at all..

lifewithpricks.blogspot.com  <-- Life with Pricks, where I write about my life, both dealing with my diabetes and other concerns.  This is the one Ignorance and Insanity is merging into.  The most recent post is "Hypoglycemia", in which the subject is quite obvious to those who know what it is, but for those that don't, give it a read.  It's a serious medical condition even if you're not diabetic and dealing with it might save your life!

deadheatchronicles.blogspot.co…  <-- Dead Heat Chronicles, where I have my zombie apocalypse survival stories written in a sort of dialogue format.  The first few uploads were following one group of survivors and then their was a pause when it went on hiatus, but it's back with a new group of survivors, starting this time -before- the big Z-A-Day, leading up to it.  The most recent post is at the start of Z-A-Day!  Give it a read, but you might want to start either at the beginning or when the Gallion, Ohio group starts up.

malrpg.blogspot.com/  <-- Myths and Legends, where I upload my progress on the RPG System I'm working on, currently titled Myths and Legends until I can figure out a better suited name due to its broad spectrum of play.  If you can think of one, please let me know!  So far the only suggestion on dA has been the Morpheus Roleplay System, and its alright but I'm not feeling a sharp tug to use it, so I'm looking for a lot more suggestions before deciding.  Other suggestions off dA have been MAGS (Massively Adaptable Gaming System), MARS (Massively Adaptable Roleplay System), FER (Flexible Environment Roleplay), FAR (Fully Adaptable Roleplay) and several too absurd or crude to post.  :P  The most recent post is about the Elementalisman items which might prove useful to the adventurous players needing a little more protection.  Give it a read, but you might want to start at the beginning to get a feel for the scope of the project.  In case you do read it and are interested, yes, I am the only person currently working on it regularly (with some occasional input from friends playtesting it) and yes, I would love to have more people on the project if you'd like to offer aid in discussion, writing (mostly more flora, fauna, various items, various abilities, or proposals for new mechanics) for the system itself, writing stories built around the system, illustrative concepts or artistic design for a logo and the like (though after a name change), or help with picking out a new name!

Aside from that, expect more Bloodstone Manor scripts to keep popping up in my galleries, more favorites of pieces of those and other story characters that I've requested or commissioned of others, and the daily flash fiction and short stories I've been uploading.  Possibly even a song or two.  I'm coloring more of the bust commissions I got as seen with the first twenty in my gallery, expect another five next week.  Also some coloring of other commissions which I haven't gotten around to yet but have been wanting to.  All of them, and my blog posts, I would love to have any comments or critiques on, either on the pieces themselves or via notes.

As some already know, I'm a contributor in :iconuniverseoimagination: and uploaded three pieces related to it thus far!  Give them a look in my gallery or there, as well as some from other contributors.  I'm also in a poetry exchange with :iconetfonehome1: and will be uploading my second piece on Friday!

First Taste Double-Theme Art Contest by Naesse-19
fav.me/d7ng6uk

I've joined the First Taste group and it looks like fun!  Also, it is running a contest currently that I plan to submit my own entry to!  Certainly, my artistic style isn't as refined as many others who I'm sure will enter, but I'm planning on using the new base style I've uploaded a couple pieces from, and put a lot of detail and a background into.  Details on the contest are linked above!

Almost forgot!  Ack!  I'm also joining the Secret Santa 2014 initiative!  Check out the group for more details!

Hello once again!  I've been updating to my four blogs and am starting a fifth now named Life with Pricks.  This blog is going to be based specifically around my experiences with type I diabetes and how my life changed after my diagnosis, as well as all the complications that it or any other disability affects myself or others whom I know, as well as sharing information of use to those with disabilities.  The first post is here: lifewithpricks.blogspot.com

The most recent post is "Brevity, or Rags and Bones", in which I talk about the how one can reduce a story down to its core elements within six words and be able to rebuild it as a completely different story.

ignorantinsanity.blogspot.com/  <-- Ignorant Insanity, where I discuss various things that might irk me or lightly amuse me about the general ignorance and insanity that I see in the world.  The most recent post is "Ignorance: Multiple Personality Disorder", in which the subject is quite obvious, dealing with the ambiguity of Dissociative Identity Disorder and its improper portrayal in various media.

deadheatchronicles.blogspot.co…  <-- Dead Heat Chronicles, where I have my zombie apocalypse survival stories written in a sort of dialogue format.

So far the only suggestion has been the Morpheus Roleplay System, and its alright but I'm not feeling a sharp tug to use it, so I'm looking for a lot more suggestions before deciding.  The most recent post is about how the Vilru and Lunemire infections spread in the various starter species.

Those blogs linked, I also have some news regarding the previous contest.  I'm not going to start it up again for a while at least.  I've tried three months now without any real interest except by friends who want to read the results but not participate due to their busy schedule or nervousness of writing when they were more visually talented artistically.  It just keeps getting buried underneath art requests and adopts and commission information, and unlike a lot of dA members, I don't break the rule of no self-bumping, so it just gets locked after a week or so of no one replying.  I don't really have much of a following, so that's not really a surprise.

Aside from that, expect more Bloodstone Manor scripts to keep popping up in my galleries, more favorites of pieces of those and other story characters that I've requested or commissioned of others, and maybe more flash fiction or poetry pieces.  Possibly even a song or two.  I'm coloring more of the bust commissions I got as seen with the first five in my gallery, expect another five this week, maybe ten depending on how busy I am.  Also some coloring of other commissions which I haven't gotten around to yet but have been wanting to.  All of them, and my blog posts, I would love to have any comments or critiques on, either on the pieces themselves or via notes.

I got featured in :icondailylitrecognition: as the pick of the day for my "UOI - WP1 - The Birth of the Parapos":  fav.me/d7ojx9c  Completely unexpected but well appreciated, especially given the kind words and other talents also recognized in the journal.  It's boosted traffic a little to the piece, and I've also got a second piece in the same character and world I had uploaded, linked here: fav.me/d7ofuzq  Both are part of the Universe O Imagination group ( :iconuniverseoimagination: ) that I'm part of, and another will be uploaded to it hopefully this week as part of the second prompt in the group.  :D

It's Flash Fiction Month, and while I don't know if I'll be able to keep to a flash fiction piece uploaded every day due to my busy schedule, I'll certainly be giving it a shot!  Wish me the best of luck, and watch for what comes out of it!

I'm applying to join the First Taste group and really hope to get into it, as well, it is running a contest currently that I plan to submit my own entry to!  Certainly, my artistic style isn't as refined as many others who I'm sure will enter, but I'm planning on using the new base style I've uploaded a couple pieces from, and put a lot of detail and a background into.  Details on the contest are linked below!

May 26 Update:

4 min read
Firstly I've been updating to my four blogs for a while now.  If you don't know already, they are as follows:

m-r-maloney.blogspot.com  <-- Tea-Time and Tension, my general writing blog, where  I discuss tropes, upload some samples of my work, discuss various writing professions and the market, and talk about such things as inspirations and the writing process.  The most recent post is "Names have Power or What's in a Name?", in which I talk about the usefulness in having a purpose for your selection of names for characters and also briefly show the reason why one of my characters has their name.

ignorantinsanity.blogspot.com/  <-- Ignorant Insanity, where I discuss various things that might irk me or lightly amuse me about the general ignorance and insanity that I see in the world.  The most recent post is "Ignorance and Insanity: Atlantis", in which the subject is quite obvious.

deadheatchronicles.blogspot.co…  <-- Dead Heat Chronicles, where I have my zombie apocalypse survival stories written in a sort of dialogue format.  The first few uploads were following one group of survivors and then their was a pause when it went on hiatus, but it's back with a new group of survivors, starting this time -before- the big Z-A-Day, leading up to it.  The most recent post is only four days before it happens!

The most recent post is about some different forms of food in the MaL system charted out for their detailed entries as they might appear in the eventual pen and paper version of the system.

Those blogs linked, I also have some news regarding the May Contest (For Fun).  It is going to restart again in June to see if anyone has any interest once again, as no one has submitted anything yet and it got buried behind new projects afterward.  I don't really have much of a following, so that's not really a surprise, but enough people did express interest without the ability to write something within May that I'll try again next month.

Aside from that, expect more Bloodstone Manor scripts to keep popping up in my galleries, more favorites of pieces of those and other story characters that I've requested of others, and maybe more flash fiction or poetry pieces.  Possibly even a song or two.  All of them, and my blog posts, I would love to have any comments or critiques on, either on the pieces themselves or via notes.  So, until later, catch you all on the flipside!
